Brazil goalkeeping legend Claudio Taffarel believes Ederson should have signed for Galatasaray and sees similarities in Fred signing for Fenerbahçe from Manchester United.
The former Manchester City goalkeeper was linked with a move to Galatasaray throughout the summer transfer window, but eventually signed for their local rivals Fenerbahçe on Monday.

Taffarel said he saw a similar situation with Fred when the midfielder was moving from Manchester United to Turkish football. The Brazilian revealed he told his compatriot he should move to Galatasaray, but Fred instead signed for Fenerbahçe, where he’s not picked up any silverware.
The 59-year-old said Ederson didn’t make contact with him over signing for Gala, but if he did, he’d have advised him to join the Super Lig champions.
“If Ederson had asked my opinion, I would have told him to go to Galatasaray. Fred was torn between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray on his way to Turkey. I told him to ‘go to Galatasaray’ but he went to Fenerbahçe. So far, he hasn’t won anything,” said the ex-Brazil international.
With the arrivals of James Trafford and Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Etihad Ederson was surplus to requirements with the Premier League side.
He looked on the verge of signing for Galatasaray after weeks of speculation and reported negotiations, but Cimbom eventually brought in Trabzonspor’s Ugurcan Cakır.
Ederson may be able to make his Super Lig debut when his new club take on Trabzonspor after the international break.
