Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has hinted Valentin Barco will be heading back to Brighton and Hove Albion soon, asking to sit out of their next match.

El Desmarque cover comments from the Sevilla coach today from his pre-match press conference, in which he confirmed that Barco was probably looking for a way out of the Spanish side.

The youngster has been on loan with Sevilla from Brighton since the summer, initially moving to La Liga to continue his development and get playing time that wasn’t on offer with the Seagulls.

That has not proven to be the case, though, as he’s failed to prove his worth and found himself out of the picture this season.

That has led to various reports that he could return to Brighton in the January transfer window, with him and his entourage unhappy with the situation and pushing for a change.

Sevilla are reportedly happy to break the loan and let him go too, preferring to open up a space in their squad and use the loan on someone new.

That’s yet to happen but Pimienta has now admitted Barco has asked to sit out of this weekend’s game and is probably looking for a way out of the Spanish club.

“(He) has asked not to come,” the Sevilla boss is quoted as saying.

“He has not had the minutes he expected, and I imagine he will be looking for a way out.

“We hold constant meetings; we have been doing the analysis during all these months. There are situations that we do not control, such as offers for players that we did not expect, so we are working on what we know.”
