Last summer, Celtic let Luis Palma join Lech Poznań on loan, after Brendan Rodgers deciding he didn’t need the player. The two clubs also agreed a purchase option as part of the deal.
TVP Sport have spoken to Lech Poznań director of communications and public relations Maciej Henszel about the possibility of buying the Celtic man. Meczyki.pl have relayed his comments.
Last month, we covered claims from Poland that the buying option is slightly lower than €4.5m. It was also explained the Polish club will try to negotiate with Celtic to bring the price down, if they decide to buy Palma.
Henszel says his side may not be able to buy the winger for less than his buyout clause.
“We have a release clause. It doesn’t seem possible to lower it. I don’t think it’s negotiable…” he said.
The Honduras international has had a good spell at Lech Poznań, scoring five goals and contributing four assists from 17 matches.
According to the official, Lech Poznań haven’t yet made the final decision on whether to extend the 25-year-old’s stay beyond this season. If they do, they’ll have to make an effort.
Lech Poznań’s current record signing is €2.3m invested to sign Yannick Agnero from Halmstads BK in September. Henszel says they’ll have to offer around double this amount to Celtic for Palma.
“It’s not an easy matter. To buy Palma, we have to break our transfer record by about two times,” Henszel explained.
“In the spring, we’ll decide whether the club can afford such a transfer and whether Luis can maintain his form.”
