West Ham United midfielder Soungoutou Magassa has been linked with a move to Galatasaray in the past 24 hours.

The Super Lig leaders are keen to sign a central midfielder, given uncertainty over Lucas Torreira’s future. Torreira is hoping for a transfer to a South American club so that he can be closer to his home country Uruguay.

A number of players have been reported as possibilities for Galatasaray in recent weeks, including Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte. The 25-year-old had agreed to personal terms, but with the managerial change at Old Trafford he looks set to remain in England.

Yesterday, West Ham’s Magassa emerged as an option for the Super Lig leaders. Gala want to loan the defensive midfielder, with an option to purchase. The Hammers only signed the 22-year-old from AS Monaco in the summer.

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is keen to bring the Frenchman in, and asked for attempts to be made to sign him.

West Ham reject offer for midfielder

However, it seems West Ham want to keep hold of Magassa beyond this window, despite an offer being tabled.

Haluk Yürekli has revealed the Premier League side rejected Galatasaray’ offer, with no indication if the Istanbul side will make another attempt.

Cimbom have other midfielders on their wish-list and it’s likely they will now target those.

“My information is that the offer for Soungoutou Magassa from Gala has not been accepted,” said the Turkish journalist.

Magassa signed for West Ham in August for an undisclosed fee. He his debut against Tottenham Hotspur, coming on as a second half substitute.

The youngster has gone on to make eight appearances for the East London club this season, scoring one goal. However, he wasn’t involved in last weekend’s victory over Spurs.

He’s contracted to the Premier League club until June 2031.
