Aston Villa and Sweden goalkeeper Robin Olsen ‘hesitates’ about his future with the national team, according to Fotbollskanalen.
The 33-year-old has made 68 appearances for his country since making his debut in 2015. In his last outing, Sweden suffered a 3-1 defeat to Austria in the European qualifiers on Tuesday.
The Aston Villa stopper has now insisted that Sweden manager Janne Andersson shouldn’t be blamed and the players need to take responsibility for their latest defeat.
Sweden are currently third in the group table, seven points behind Belgium and Austria, and have an uphill task to qualify for the Euros next summer.
The Villans man isn’t sure whether he’ll continue representing Sweden if they don’t make it to the continental tournament.
“I don’t know [if he’ll be there for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers]. It’s hard to stand and say here and now. I spend a lot of time away from the family so yeah, we’ll see,” he said.
“The urge is there, but I’ll have to talk to my wife about that. It’s always just as important to wear the Swedish national team shirt.”
Olsen initially joined Aston Villa on a loan deal in January 2022 before his stay there was made permanent later that year. Since his arrival at Villa Park, the goalkeeper has made 10 appearances in all competitions and has been a backup for Emiliano Martínez.
