Calciomercato have a feature on Monday on how much Inter Milan regret missing out on Gabriel Jesus to Manchester City.

The player speaking to Pep Guardiola is mentioned as a big factor (something Gabriel touched on in his interview with Sport Witness last week), and also the wish of his family.

It’s stated a ‘hard blow to swallow’ for Inter to lose out to Manchester City, especially given Gabriel’s rise to prominence since.

But why would he have chose Inter over Manchester City? Impeccably run as a club, Guardiola’s Manchester City is the polar opposite to Inter Milan, currently 13th in Serie A.

It’s quite fitting that a link on the same Calciomercato page goes to an article titled ‘Inter, 3 possible destinations for Gabigol’. The Italian club are already looking for a home for their own recent recruit from Brazil, just months after signing him.

This is just all very Inter. They seem to have problems identifying the right targets, and when they do manage to find a jewell, they somehow mess everything up. Players such as Philippe Coutinho and Mateo Kovacic leave way too soon, and that’s just two major examples.

Trying to be overly clever in the transfer market has shown Inter’s buying department to be the opposite. Director of sport Piero Ausilio seems to get far more leeway than he should, as manager after manager goes out the exit door, and the Italian somehow manages to receive plaudits.
