Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United attracted some controversy at the end of the Premier League season when both squads jetted off to Australia for a friendly.

Given the repeat complaints from managers about excess matches, and proposed changes to the FA Cup to help in that respect, it was felt to be an odd move and something which wouldn’t be beneficial for players after a long season.

Some of those involved played down those concerns, insinuating it was just a holiday with a match or two thrown in.

However, Dejan Kulusevski is not of that opinion.

Currently away with the Sweden squad ahead of friendlies against Denmark and Serbia, the Tottenham player was asked about the post-season trip to Australia and made it very clear he wasn’t thrilled about it.

Quioted by Fotbollskanalen, the Spurs player said: “It was hard, but sometimes you just have to accept that you can’t decide everything in life. The club made the decision that we had to go there and then I had to make the best of the situation.

“Of course it was tough. It was hard to accept, but nothing can be done. Others decide.”

Kulusevski explained that he’s now set to give everything he has left in the tank for Sweden, however, it very much sounds like he’s counting the minutes until he can finally go on holiday.
