Daniel Carvajal has told Cope’s El Partidazo de Cope that he would happily sign Manchester City’s Rodri for Real Madrid.

The 32-year-old and the Citizens midfielder are currently with Spain, preparing for the Euro 2024 final against England on Sunday.

Ahead of the big clash, the Real Madrid defender spoke to Cope, where he was directly asked if he favours signing the Manchester City player for Los Blancos.

When responding to that, Carvajal reveals that he has tried to convince the 28-year-old to leave Pep Guaridola’s side for the Champions League winners.

“Yes, without a doubt. I tell him this every day. I tell him that in Manchester there is no sun, that he is from Madrid and that we need him in the team. But he drags me off telling me that he has a contract and that there are no clauses… He would be a great signing without a doubt, he would fit perfectly,” he said.

Friday’s edition of AS have published a lengthy interview with the Manchester City star, who has three years left on his deal at the Etihad.

The Premier League winners signed him from Atlético Madrid in 2019. The newspaper have made no mention of Carvajal’s comments, but asked Rodri if he intends to return to Spain.

The midfielder has suggested he isn’t thinking about a transfer because he’s happy with his life at Manchester City.

“I try to analyse all the decisions I make, to have a criterion. And, above all, I try to make processes. I’m very, very happy in England. I think I’m at one of the best clubs in the world, it’s obvious, and I’m happy. I have a three-year deal and, when the time comes, I will see,” Rodri explained.

“But I’ve said it before with regard to the short term. I don’t like it or it doesn’t make much sense to look at the long term. Spain is my country, Madrid my city, at home.”

“And well, when I went to Manchester, I remember a conversation I had with my parents in which they asked me if I was sure because I was going to another country, another culture. And, in the end, one is happy when one is sure of things. If I go back, it would be with conviction.”

This clearly indicates Rodri isn’t thinking about leaving Manchester City, at least in this window.
