As Gustavo Scarpa won the Brazilian League title with Palmeiras just before leaving them for Nottingham Forest, there’s a lot of goodwill being sent to the player ahead of his farewell.
That can be seen in the interview he gave to local journalists after last night’s game. He now openly talks about the move, and seems quite excited to join the Premier League side.
This time, Scarpa was asked about his English skills. The player suddenly started speaking English with the Brazilian reporters, making it clear he’s getting prepared ahead of the Nottingham Forest move.

Many Brazilian players only start learning England after they move to the UK, and it normally takes a while for them to start speaking it. Scarpa seemed quite proficient, although did speak with an American accent, saying he finds it difficult to use an English one.
So if Scarpa is now concerned about the accent, that means he’s already reached a decent level, at least to communicate with his new teammates and the club’s staff.
The midfielder’s contract with Palmeiras expires in December. Last night he played their last home game of the season, with the campaign ending at the weekend. Then it’s very likely he’ll soon complete the move to England to start his adaptation before his contract with Nottingham Forest starts in January.
