Barcelona star Ansu Fati has been offered to Manchester City, according to reports.
The 18-year-old last made an appearance for the La Liga side in November 2020 and has been sidelined since then due to a serious injury.
Having missed the majority of the previous campaign, the winger is yet to make an appearance this term.
The Spanish club handed Fati the No.10 shirt, which was previously worn by Lionel Messi. However, that hasn’t helped Ronald Koeman’s side when it comes to renewing his contract.
According to ElNacional, Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes is trying to put pressure on Barcelona to get an improved deal before he returns to the pitch after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Pep Guardiola has ‘always shown his eternal love for Barça’ and shares an ‘excellent relationship’ with Joan Laporta. Therefore, as per the report, the City manager will ‘never do anything that could harm’ his former club.
He’s now showed it again by closing the door on the possibility of signing Fati, who would have been a luxury signing for the Etihad club.
It’s claimed Guardiola has asked City director of football Txiki Begiristain ‘not to enter the game started by Mendes’ so that he doesn’t end up harming Barcelona.
The Citizens coach’s response has pleased Laporta, who is ‘very upset’ with Mendes. The Barca president remains hopeful Fati will soon accept the club’s ‘downward proposal’ to sign a new contract.
