Earlier this summer we covered a report from Greece that stated AEK and Panathanaikos were interested in Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.
The reports stated that the Greek sides were looking at the Gunners defender and AEK were particularly keen as Miguel Cardoso wants to strengthen his defence this summer.
The 21-year-old has initially said no to any potential move, but AEK were hopeful of convincing him otherwise. Indeed,
Sporting Director Nikos Liberopoulos was planning to fly to England to meet with the player face to face to talk him round.
SDNA.gr cover the potential move today and say AEK have now cooled their interest after Mavropanos picked up a groin injury.
The defender was plagued by the problem throughout last season and has now suffered a recurrence of the injury, with him facing up to eight weeks out as a result.
That has caused AEK to cool down their interest and presumably turn their attention to other targets to bolster their defence before the transfer window closes.
