Just under a week ago we covered a report from Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport which we believed offered Chelsea a little hope in their pursuit of Kalidou Koulibaly. The Napoli defender has reportedly been the subject of Chelsea bids, but his club haven’t wanted to sell him.

Gazzetta dello Sport explained that Napoli had been trying to buy Nikola Maksimovic from Torino for around €25m, but they hadn’t had any luck so couldn’t sell Koulibaly to Chelsea.

Well, Maksimovic may well be helping things along. Turin newspaper Tuttosport report that the defender has walked out on the club, missed two training sessions, and returned to Serbia waiting for news on a transfer.

Tuttosport believe the break with Torino looks pretty serious for Maksimovic and they of course mention Napoli as a possible destination.

Calciomercato report that Maksimovic was spotted in Terminal B of Milan’s Malpensa airport on Friday night.

This is a bit of a circus for Torino, but all very good news for Chelsea’s hopes of finally sealing a Koulibaly deal.
