Brazilian icon Ronaldinho has praised Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne, labelling the Belgian ‘a great player’.
De Bruyne has established himself as the best midfielder in the world over the last seven years after joining Manchester City in a €76m deal from Wolfsburg in 2015.
He had starred for the German side after joining from Chelsea in a €22m deal in January 2014, wracking up 20 goals and 37 assists in 73 games before moving to the Etihad.
He’s since been the star of the show in Manchester, with 129 assists and 87 goals in 317 games so far but more likely to come before he departs the club.
This season alone he has managed eight assists in 10 games in all competitions, benefitting greatly from the arrival of Erling Haaland, with that burgeoning relationship likely to bring a slew of assists for him in the coming years.
He will be hoping his impressive start to the season with Manchester City will carry over to the World Cup in Qatar, where he will be the key player in a Belgium squad full of talent.
Ronaldinho will be one of those keeping a close eye on him, with the Brazil icon admitting his admiration for the midfielder today.
“There are three Red Devils playing at AC Milan, my ex-club,” Voetbal Niuews report him saying.
“That proves there is a lot of quality in your selection. De Bruyne is my favourite Red Devil. I love his style.
“OK, he’s not a dribbler like Eden Hazard, but he has great technique. He is a great player.
“Eden Hazard is the Belgian who is most like me in the way he plays. I hope he gets back to his top level soon,”
