Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has praised Chelsea counterpart Enzo Fernandez after the pair faced each other in Sunday’s 1-1 draw between the two sides.
The Argentine spoke to Paramount+ following the game at Stamford Bridge regarding life at his new club and his debut last weekend.
The midfielder moved to Liverpool from Brighton in the summer transfer window, with the Reds activating his release clause at Brighton as part of their bid midfield rebuild this summer.
He was handed an immediate starting role for the season opener against Chelsea on the weekend, a clash that saw him come up against international teammate and fellow World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez.
The duel between the pair proved to be a focal point for much of the game, with Fernandez seemingly getting the better of his teammate and earning rave reviews from fans and pundits alike.
Indeed, for many he was the man of the match in the 1-1 draw, and while the Liverpool man didn’t go that far in his praise, he was certainly full of it for the Chelsea man.
“I have already faced him several times, I have played with him, he is a great player,” he said.
“I respect him a lot, I have a great relationship. Today he showed why they paid what they paid for him, why he is here, and it makes me happy for him, obviously.”
