Wolverhampton Wanderers want to lure VfL Wolfsburg’s Ridle Baku to the Premier League in the summer.
That’s according to WAZ, who say the Premier League side are showing ‘great interest’ in the 25-year-old.
Operating mainly as a right-back and at times as a right wing-back, he’s managed five goals and three assists from 31 league games this season. His displays have pleased Wolves, so much so that they ‘would love to sign’ him in the next window.
The Germany international has over just two years left on his contract and it’s claimed Julen Lopetegui’s side would have to put ‘a lot of money’ on the table to take him away from Wolfsburg.
WAZ state the fee should be between €15m and €20m, which may not be an issue for Wolves to meet. Apart from the English club, Villarreal are also in the mix for the fullback.
Although Wolves ‘want to sign’ the defender, WAZ don’t specify whether they are willing to make an offer for him in the summer.
It’s ‘completely open’ if the Bundesliga side would be ready to part ways with the player after this season.
Wolsfburg are sixth in the table, trailing fifth placed SC Frieburg by seven points with two games to go. If they had qualified for the Europa League next season, it could have been assumed they would want to retain Baku.
