Ever since he started shining for Morocco at the World Cup, Sofyan Amrabat has been linked with a move to a bigger club, with Liverpool reportedly big fans.
That comes courtesy of Jürgen Klopp, who is said to have already met with the player’s agents, wanting to bring the player to Anfield to bolster his depleted midfield.
Some in Italy feel that would be the wrong move, but the interest remains, as Liverpool remain short of midfielders thanks to bad planning and some unfortunate injuries.
For now, though, the Fiorentina and Morocco star is solely focused on the task at hand, which is to face France in a World Cup semi-final and try and continue his national team’s great run in the competition.
Before that, though, he sat down with Marca to have a chat about everything going on around him these days, including links to big clubs, with Barcelona and Atlético named in particular, even if we can throw in Liverpool and Tottenham in there too due to the amount of stories about them being keen.
He replied: “It’s a great honour to be associated with these types of clubs. Right now, I’m playing for Fiorentina. I have a lot of respect for my club, it’s a great team. I have a great manager and a wonderful relationship with the owner Rocco Commisso, who brought me to Fiorentina, and with Joe Barone and Daniele Prade. I have a lot of respect for them and for the club.”
That’s a very politically correct answer, even if it has been said that a move to Liverpool would attract him, as the idea of playing in the Champions League could tempt him away from Florence.
