Brentford picked up a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.

New signing Michael Kayode was not part of the squad for the game, with the club not registering him in time for the Premier League cut-off.

While the arrival from Fiorentina can make his debut soon, it now seems as if the defender was almost forced out of the Italian side and he gave everything in training to change that.

Andrea Ritorni is the head scout of Vigo Global, who represent Kayode, and he’s explained the 20-year-old always conducted himself in a professional way despite regular exclusions from Fiorentina’s starting eleven this season.

He told Fiorentinanews.com: “In life there are certain choices that should not be shared, but respected.

“Fiorentina today has Dodo in great form, Mike has always competed for a place with him but this season the Brazilian started ahead and Mike was also a bit tired after last season being full of matches.”

Ritorni went on to say that one mistake Kayode made in the UEFA Conference League led to the youngster not playing regularly for the club.

“It happens that one can make a mistake, Mike was substituted at half-time for that mistake but then he always trained with great sacrifice, without ever having anything to say to [manager Raffaele] Palladino and the club.”

Speaking about the move to Brentford, the head scout explained Kayode left his heart in Florence but he is very happy to join the London club.

“Like all transfer negotiations that are done at the last minute, we welcomed the arrival of the approval from Brentford with great happiness. Michael is happy and excited even if he left his heart in Florence.”

All of this suggests that Brentford have signed someone with the correct outlook.

The Bee moved Mads Roerslev on to Wolfsburg some days ago and will want Kayode to play regularly.

The player himself wants regular game time, considering how he played just 124 minutes in the Serie A for Fiorentina this season.

All in all, it seems like a good match for both parties.
