Late in the summer transfer window, AC Milan failed in a move for Liverpool’s Joe Gomez.
The transfer depended on the Reds’ move for Crystal Marc Guehi. Since the Englishman stayed at Crystal Palace, Gomez didn’t leave Anfield.
Despite that, the 28-year-old remains a firm target for AC Milan.
Calciomercato report there’s a ‘great chance’ of the Liverpool player ending up at the San Siro in January.
The Rossoneri are still interested in securing his services, having come close to securing the centre-back in the last few days of the transfer window.
Sporting director Igli Tare is an admirer of the defender, who is seen as a reliable way to improve their backline. While Milan are also looking at markets in Germany and France, the Liverpool player is of serious interest.
So far this season, Gomez has played only 119 minutes for Arne Slot’s side. He’s come off the bench three times. His current contract runs until the summer of 2027, so he is not expected to cost a lot.
That last part is perhaps over confidence. Serie A clubs often think they can sign Premier League players for bargain prices, but it’s not always the case.
