Brazilian duo Casemiro and Antony have been warned they’ve taken a risk joining Manchester United this summer.
That’s according to journalist Rafael Reis, who believes they may have jeopardised a place in Tite’s World Cup squad.
Casemiro joined Manchester United earlier this summer in one of the more surprising moves of the summer, signing in a €€70.65m deal from Real Madrid.
He was followed by compatriot Antony later in the window, with the forward managing to secure a €95m move from Ajax following months of speculation about his future and a potential reunion with Erik ten Hag.
He will now be hoping to establish himself as a key player at Old Trafford moving forwards and beat the extreme competition to be a part of Tite’s forward options in Qatar.
Casemiro has similar competition in Brazil’s midfield and Reis believes the move to Manchester United is a risky one for him and his compatriot.
“The market was very busy for Brazilians in a World Cup year, which is good and bad,” UOL report him saying.
“It is always a danger to go to a new club three, four months before the World Cup.
“Antony and Casemiro, the two biggest deals involving Brazilians, went to Manchester United.
“By history, the club is a ‘graveyard of Brazilians’. Which Brazilian has played well there throughout history? It’s a danger.”
