Fikayo Tomori is one a growing number of youngsters to have gone out on loan from Chelsea and then actually be given a chance in the first team when they return.
He spent the 2019/19 season on loan with Frank Lampard at Derby County, after previous spells with Brighton & Hove Albion and Hull City.
When returning to Stamford Bridge, the defender was given a run of Premier League games towards the start of the season, but his appearances dropped off as the campaign went on.
Thursday’s edition of L’Equipe reports Rennes are keen, yet they’re facing a battle from Chelsea. According to the French newspaper, Marina Granovskaia is in contact with a number of clubs over the 22 year old, with the insinuation she’s trying to create a bidding war.
That could be true whether it’s a loan or a permanent transfer, and L’Equipe don’t make it clear which Rennes would be more interested in.
The Ligue 1 side are determined to bring in a central defender, with it being their priority this summer, and Tomori is one of a few options they’re keen on.
