On February 21st, Leeds United announced the appointment of Javi Gracia as their new manager.
The Whites sacked Jesse Marsch earlier this month after enduring a difficult run in the league this season. Michael Skubala was the interim manager for the last three games where Leeds managed to pick up only a point.
Gracia has been appointed as the American’s successor and his immediate task is to help the Premier League side avoid dropping to the second division.
Following their 1-0 defeat to Everton last weekend, the Whites dropped to the relegation zone. They are 19th in the table, trailing AFC Bournemouth by two points.
Gracia joins Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery and Julen Lopetegui as the Spanish coaches in the Premier League.
Marca focus on the impact of Spanish managers on English football. They have also got a comment from the new Leeds manager on what needs to be done to improve the situation at Elland Road.
“It is a beautiful experience in a young team with the desire to do things well. We have three months to work on it and with a little order and confidence we can improve the situation. 10 games without winning is a lot, but I see a positive atmosphere. Let’s see if we managed to find the key and change this dynamic,” Gracia told Marca.
