Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has ‘got a bit lost’ as he looks set for a defining summer after a failed loan spell at Napoli.
That’s according to compatriot Stephane Dalmat, who admits he had high hopes for the midfielder before his move to England.
Ndombele has spent this season on loan with Napoli in Serie A after it was made clear he was not a part of Tottenham’s plans this season.
He has barely featured in the Italian side’s successes, though, featuring in just 27% of the available minutes in the league so far.
The loan is the latest low point for the French midfielder, who has failed to live up to the expectations he set when he emerged as a rising star at Lyon.
It was his performances there that led him to join Tottenham in a €62m deal but he failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League and a subsequent return to the club and a loan spell at Napoli have failed to revive things.
Corriere dello Sport cover him today and say he will absolutely be returning to Tottenham in the summer once that loan spell ends, where he will likely need to make a decision on his future.
The Frenchman very much needs to find a path to help him get back to his best, an opinion shared by Dalmat, who feels the 26-year-old has lost his way.
“Yes, I had high hopes for Tanguy Ndombele when he was at Lyon,” he told FC Inter News.
“He could have been a profile, but at Tottenham he got a bit lost. I see Seko Fofana from Lens well, but he’s 28 and costs a lot. He’s doing an amazing season.”
