Barcelona have identified Everton’s Amadou Onana as one of their targets to bolster midfield.
The 22-year-old is on the front page of today’s Mundo Deportivo and it’s said the La Liga side like him.
Xavi Hernández’s side want a defensive midfielder, ‘who has lungs’, and have identified the Everton player, Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães and AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana as targets for next summer.
It’s said the Belgium international has attracted Barca’s attention because he ‘stands out’ for his height and fine displays for both the Toffees and his national team.
Focusing on Onana’s profile, another report from Mundo says he is a ‘midfielder with a lot of movement’ that allows him to cover a lot of area on the pitch. It also helps him when moving into the opposition’s half.
Barcelona have ‘good reports’ on the former Lille man and are still monitoring him. As well from his qualities, the report states the situation at Everton is another factor that makes him attractive for the Spanish giants.
Sean Dyche’s side have been docked 10 points for breaching financial rules and the report states they could consider making some of their star players available in the market.
That’s based on a worst case scenario, one which Everton are very much avoiding at the moment.
