Ayoze Perez left Tenerife and made a switch to Newcastle United in 2014.

Barring the 2016/17 season in the Championship, the forward has played in the Premier League each campaign and so far scored 27 goals and registered nine assists in four seasons.

His current deal with the Tyneside club runs down in 2021 and in the past, there were reports linking the Spaniard with a move to other Premier League clubs, including Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Perez sat down for an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca. The Spanish newspaper put to Perez: ‘There have been plenty of admirers: Everton, Tottenham… What does the future hold?’

He replied: “To this day, I do not know. I hope [there is] something very good. I believe that I have gained merit in the last five years so that a good opportunity presents itself.”

Perez spent seven years with Tenerife’s academy before being promoted to their B team in 2011 and a year later he got his breakthrough in the first team. It’s no surprise that he wants to return to Spain and the Newcastle star has expressed his desire to play in La Liga previously.

“I am very grateful to Newcastle, but it is obvious that someday I would like to come back and play in La Liga,” Perez added.

In his last match, against Everton, Perez scored twice, provided an assist, and was so good he ended up in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week. But it does seem that anytime he does something like that, he’s quickly in the Spanish media talking about his future.
