Bayern Munich may have abandoned their long running interest in Tottenham’s Harry Kane as there ‘doubts are growing internally’ over whether he would move to Germany.

That’s according to Sport BILD, who say that the recent rise of Eric Maxim Chupo-Moting has also raised question marks about a move for the Tottenham forward.

Kane has long been linked with a move to Bayern as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who departed to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

That left a huge hole in Bayern’s forward line that has not been filled, with Sadio Mane not proving to be as effective as a central striker as the German giants had hoped he would.

There is an acceptance that Bayern need to sign a world-class centre-forward this summer and Kane is a player who is on their list of possible options.

He will be in the final year of his deal at Tottenham come the summer and is yet to sign an extension, meaning Spurs could be forced into a sale at that point to avoid losing their talisman on a free the following year.

Numerous reports since the summer have made it clear that Bayern are keeping a close eye on the situation, with the last at the beginning of December saying they were exploring whether Kane would make the switch.

It was stated they would wait until the spring to really make their move, but it seems their efforts in the interim have put them off.

SportBILD report that there are ‘doubts’ at Bayern over whether Kane would move to the Bundesliga, and they are ‘growing’. It seems, then, that whatever response they have received from their initial efforts has not put them in a mind to make a move for the Tottenham icon.

Furthermore, Chupo-Moting has been ‘convincing’ in the last few months, so much so that talks are planned over a renewal of his deal in the coming weeks.

He can imagine staying in Bavaria but does not want a ‘renowned competitor’ next to him.

In other words, if Bayern sign Kane he will want to leave, adding a further reason not to make a move for him.
