Fulham may have been handed a major boost ahead of the summer transfer window, as Bayern Munich have ‘moved away’ from Joao Palhinha.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say those in charge at Bayern have turned their attention elsewhere following the drama of the last year.
The newspaper explains that while Bayern are still searching for a specialist defensive midfielder, a number six, for their squad, Palhinha is unlikely to be the one they now target.
He had been the main focus last summer and was on the verge of being signed before the infamous incident which saw Fulham pull out of the deal at the last minute after they had failed to find a replacement on deadline day.
The belief had been that Bayern would return at some point but that never happened in January and it is unlikely to be the case in the summer.
SportBILD say the club’s new sporting directors have ‘initially moved away’ from Palhinha and are now instead focusing their efforts on Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.
That’s good news for Fulham, who may be able to already tick off one major name potentially coming for their star man at the end of the season.
