Club Brugge have come forward to sign Sheffield United’s André Brooks in the winter market.
Earlier this week, we covered claims from Belgium of Club Brugge looking at the winger as a back up for Carlos Forbs. The latter is enjoying life in Belgium after a disappointing loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers last season.
That hasn’t stopped them from looking at the Sheffield United player. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported Club Brugge have approached the Blades over a move for the 22-year-old in this window.
He also said Chris Wilder’s side are resisting to sanction a move as they have a desire to retain him.
This report surfaced before Club Brugge’s 3-0 win over Marseille in the last group stage Champions League fixture. The result saw them finish 19th in the table and seal a berth in for the play-off qualifiers.
Brooks would have an opportunity to play in Europe’s elite club competition if he were to join Club Brugge.
Sheffield United stubbornness kills transfer
Tavolieri now took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a short update which clearly favours Sheffield United.
According to his information, the Jupiler Pro League side are now unlikely to pursue a deal for the 22-year-old. That’s because the operation has turned out to be ‘too complicated’ for Club Brugge.
The Championship side would have made the negotiations complicated as they have a firm desire to hold on to the Sheffield-born attacker.
Club Brugge have taken a step back in their pursuit of Brooks. This certainly a boost for Sheffield United in their efforts to keep him.
Brooks scored two goals and contributed four assists from 26 matches this season.
