Crystal Palace defender Jake O’Brien is ‘close’ to a new loan move to RWD Molenbeek after a move there last season.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who say that a deal is looking likely for the 22-year-old, who was one of the ‘revelations’ of last season.
A report yesterday explained that RWDM hadn’t given up on signing O’Brien for another season and they were looking at getting another loan deal, or even a permanent deal, over the line.
It was claimed that the relationship between the two clubs, who are both owned by John Textor, could facilitate a deal and get the defender back to the club.
HLN follow that up today and state that there is a ‘good chance’ O’Brien will return to RWDM next season after playing a key role in their title success in the Challenger Pro League last year.
RWDM coach Vincent Euvrars is ‘already won over’ by the idea of another move for the Crystal Palace defender, who would gain experience in Belgium’s top flight.
Whether Crystal Palace are willing to sanction another deal remains to be seen, although it seems unlikely that they have a place for O’Brien at this moment in time.
Sending him out for regular football would make sense if that is the case and it seems RWDM would be more than happy to take him.
