Ronald De Boer has insisted Liverpool would not make a mistake in moving for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré as he’s more than good enough to make the step up.
The Dutchman has been speaking to Voetbal Nieuws regarding the player as he continues to be linked with a move away from PSV this summer.
He’s been an undisputed star of the show at the Dutch club for several years, with his performances not going unnoticed and seeing him regularly linked with a move to the Premier League as a result.
It’s been a similar story this summer and Liverpool have been drawn into the mix as a result of their midfielder overhaul.
The Reds have lost both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer and while they have brought into Wataru Endo to fill the gap, there is a feeling another signing is necessary if Jurgen Klopp’s squad is not to be left short.
PSV are more than open to a sale if their asking price is met, with a report earlier this month making it clear that if anyone paid €37.5m, they’d sell the midfielder happily.
Whether Liverpool will offer such a figure remains to be seen but De Boer believes they should, as it would be money well spent.
“I think he’s a great player,” he said regarding the player.
“I think he cannot be kept for PSV. He will still go to a real top team such as Liverpool. Bayern or Paris Saint-Germain? In my opinion he can handle that.
“I always say: if he gets the Makélélé role, take the ball away and pass it on to someone who can play football well, then he is a golden player for your team.
“He is in between everything and can rush things. You need those kinds of players in your team.”
