‘Golden opportunity’ for club to sign Manchester United player – ‘Coming hours decisive’ for deal

Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen made his first appearance of this season when he came off the bench in the defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The midfielder has less than a year left on his contract and efforts are ongoing to take him away from the Red Devils.

The Eredivisie side have to rush because the window in the Netherlands will close later today.

He spent five years at Ajax before leaving them for Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. The Dutch club have tried to tempt him several times in recent years. Eriksen is still on the transfer radar as the report says he’s seen as a ‘missing link’ in Francesco Farioli’s squad.

There’s been regular contact between Ajax and the Denmark international’s camp in recent times. The 32-year-old would have to take a ‘significant’ pay cut to return to his former club.

Erik ten Hag’s side are demanding a fee to sanction a sale, and this makes it complicated for Ajax. They seem to be hoping for Manchester United to terminate his contract.

Mason Mount will be out of action for several weeks due to an injury. The report suggests this could also make it difficult for Ajax to sign Eriksen today.
