On Friday, Sport reported Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal for Palmeiras youngster Estevão Willian.
Later that day, the same outlet stated the west London club’s officials have travelled to Brazil to trigger his €60m release clause.
Sport’s latest claim is backed up by Mundo Deportivo, who then share their own take on this case.
It’s claimed Chelsea are in Brazil and are willing to pay the €60m fee to agree a deal for the 16-year-old’s transfer.
Palmeiras sources have informed Mundo that the Blues are ‘ready to close the signing’ of the young winger, so that he can arrive at Stamford Bridge in 2025. He cannot move to Europe until he turns 18 years of age in April 2025.
The Brazil U17 international dreams of joining Barcelona, who haven’t made any moves to try and sign him. The report states the La Liga side’s financial situation doesn’t allow them to undertake such an operation.
The Premier League side, on the other hand, seem to be ‘going all in’. However, Mundo state Estevão ‘knows nothing’ about Chelsea’s pursuit to secure a deal for him.
It’s further claimed that neither teenager nor his entourage have any news from either Palmeiras or Chelsea. He has reiterated that his desire is to make a switch to the Camp Nou once he turns 18.
