If you wanted any evidence of the utter lunacy that is building in Spain ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Real Madrid this evening, El Chiringuito have you well and truly covered.

Excitement is building ahead of the second leg as Real Madrid look to pull off an unlikely come back, and El Chiringuito are all over the potential ‘Remontada’.

They, like several players in the Real Madrid squad, are absolutely convinced that they can come back from the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the 3-0 leg and make their way to the semi-finals.

They cover everything, with chief journalist Josep Pedrerol currently among the Madrid fans and revelling the celebrity of it all, playing his part too.

There’s various videos of them stopping various footballers to ask their opinions on the ‘Remontada’, from Steven McManaman to Michael Laudrup, even Barcelona president Joan Laporta, while Pedrerol has even provided a detailed analysis on how Mikel Arteta sets up Arsenal for big games.

Mixed in with all this excitement is a clip in which one of their pundits insists that God will ensure Real Madrid are winners this evening.

“It’s Holy Week and you know that God, God is a Real Madrid fan. God is from Real Madrid,” he says.

“He who made us all. He’s from Real Madrid. He wears the Real Madrid shirt. He wears the Real Madrid crest. Don’t fight each other again.”

So, then, Arsenal best be aware. As far as they’re concerned in Madrid, God is on their side and the Remontada is not a dream but an absolute certainty at this point because of it.
