Crystal Palace have impressed since Oliver Glasner arrived at Selhurst Park in February 2024.
Last season, the Austrian guided the Eagles to FA Cup success, and they then beat Liverpool to win the Community Shield in August. Earlier this month, Glasner told the Austrian media about his big plans for Crystal Palace.
The manager was at Eintracht Frankfurt between 2021 and 2023 and helped them win the Europa League in 2022.
Alex Meier has been the German club’s youth team manager for a few years.
Bild now report Meier observed Glasner’s methods closely at the Bundesliga club. He’s working on his A-license course and as part of it, he had a two-day visit to Crystal Palace in September.
The Eintracht Frankfurt U19 manager was able to take a closer look at Glasner’s methods and management skills. The use of data at the London club has pleased with German.
“Since I was only there for two days and it was all about tactics, there were no surprising exercises. But I was still impressed by how meticulous and data-driven the work is,” he said.
Bild report of a key aspect of how Glasner carries out a ‘medical meeting’ daily to manage the physical condition of Crystal Palace players. The manager sits down with his assistant, medical staff and physical trainer to discuss every player.
Meier noted Glasner’s ‘special instinct for managing workloads during training and the relaxed atmosphere among the players.’
He was pleased with his visit to the Premier League club.
“I thought it was great that I was allowed to be there everywhere, including every meeting. That’s not something to be taken for granted. He said I could always call him and that I was welcome to come back,” Meier explained.
