Last week, Watford director Gianluca Nani revealed his side are already at work for the January window. The Italian also oversees transfers at Udinese, as the two clubs are owned by the Pozzo family.

Nani appointed Kosta Runjaić as the Serie A side’s new manager in June, and they have had a great start under his orders. Udinese are currently leading the table, a point ahead of second placed Napoli.

Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport covers Udinese’s impressive start under Runjaić. They say the director and the Watford owner, Gino Pozzo, are ‘gloating’ after bringing the 53-year-old to the club.

The Austrian arrived in Italy after managing lower division clubs in Germany and spells in Poland with Pogoń Szczecin and Legia Warsaw.

The Championship side’s director and Gino Pozzo believes they have unearthed a diamond in Runjaić, and it’s likely this will influence their future planning for both Udinese and Watford.

Looking in lesser heralded markets can be key for both squad additions and, it now seems, managerial ones too.
