Arsenal owned player Konstantinos Mavropanos has ended up in the sights of West Ham United, according to claims from Germany.

The centre-back’s failure to enjoy minutes with the Gunners saw him go out on loan. After a short temporary spell with FC Nürnberg in 2020, he joined VfB Stuttgart on loan in the summer of 2020, before his stay was extended for one more season in the last window.

Operating in the heart of the defence or at right-back, the Greece international has four goals from 13 league appearances this term.

Detailing his performances from this season, Bild state the 24-year-old is ‘developing into the absolute top defender’ for the German club. It’s no surprise his displays have caught the attention of Borussia Dortmund, who have emerged as a ‘top candidate’ for his signature.

BVB, however, are not the only club chasing Mavropanos and this is when the Hammers get a mention. It’s claimed David Moyes’ side, who are one of the ‘interested parties’ from England, are keen to acquire the defender’s services.

Mavropanos has already stressed he wants to leave Arsenal on a permanent transfer next summer. Stuttgart have an option to make his stay permanent for €3m and the report states they are likely to exercise it.

However, Stuttgart will not be able to retain the Greek defender beyond this season and can probably collect €25m from his sale before the end of the next summer window.

With West Ham in the picture, only time will tell whether or not they will make an offer to sign Mavropanos.
