With Jörg Schmadtke seemingly on the verge of signing a short-term deal with Liverpool, it’s likely we’ll see lots of Bundesliga players linked with the Reds in the coming weeks and months.
It’s a natural assumption to make given his and Jurgen Klopp’s ties to the division, and the fact that Liverpool need something of a rebuild this summer.
The rumours are already swirling in England about who Schmadtke would like to bring with him to Anfield and SportBILD cover that today, providing their own assessment on those who have been linked.
The first covered is Ryan Gravenberch, who Schmadtke is ‘said to be hot for’ alongside Joško Gvardiol, Florian Neuhaus and Daichi Kamada.
In terms of the Dutchman, they say that he is ‘dissatisfied’ with his time at the German giants so far, but they don’t want to let him go and ‘continue to believe’ in him, thus a transfer seems unlikely this summer.
The player himself has left his future open and one thing that works in Liverpool’s favour is that the player is a self-confessed Red.
He raved about them in an interview to Croatian TV back in January and they are known to be his ‘dream club’, something that shouldn’t be underestimated.
Neuhaus, meanwhile, is seen as a transfer that would be ‘quite questionable’ for Liverpool to make as it’s doubted whether he has ‘enough quality’ to survive at the top of the Premier League.
The ‘running and duel-intensive’ game in England wouldn’t suit him but he does have enough footballing intelligence to work in Liverpool’s 4-3-3 according to SportBILD.
They say Schmadtke and Klopp could get him for €10-15m and Gladbach ‘would immediately be willing to sell’ this summer if Liverpool were to come calling.
Finally, there is Kamada, whose departure from Eintracht Frankfurt ‘seems a done deal’ at this point. He’s yet to announce his next club. Everything pointed towards him joining Benfica but there are other options, and his ‘secret goal’ has always been to move to the Premier League.
That gives Liverpool a perfect opportunity to get him if they want to this summer, with the Japanese man apparently on the list alongside the other three Bundesliga players.
