St Pauli have a ‘great’ interest in Bolton Wanderers forward Oladapo Afolayan as he is ‘exactly’ what they are looking for this month.
That’s according to BILD, who confirm reports from England claiming that the German side are interested in the 25-year-old.
They explain that Afolayan is indeed on St Pauli’s ‘scouting list’ and that the ‘interest is great’ as they look to bolster their squad this month.
They are ‘very interested’ in the forward as he fits perfectly into what they are looking for, that is a fast winger with development potential on top.
Afolayan started his career as a youth prospect at Chelsea before moving to West Ham and then moving to Bolton in 2021.
Since then he has scored 20 goals in 80 games for the League One club, establishing himself as a firm fan favourite in the process.
That’s an issue St Pauli have to find a way around as Bolton are ‘reluctant’ to let the player leave this month.
They have Afolayan tied down to a deal until 2024 and would only be interested in a deal if it exceeds his current £600,000 valuation.
That would be difficult for the German side to do as they have already paid a six figure fee for new striker Maurides Roque Junior.
Sports director Andreas Bornemann is known for ‘creative solutions’, though, and there is a belief that he could think of something to get the Bolton man.
Either way, the interest is there, and he is a name to keep an eye on.
