Leeds United’s Anton Stach remains optimistic his performances for the Whites can help him return to the Germany squad.

The midfielder has given a detailed interview to Kicker. Fussball Transfers have relayed his comments on the national team ambition.

He ended his two-year spell at TSG Hoffenheim to join Leeds United for a reported £17m in July.

Stach has featured regular under Daniel Farke’s orders this season, playing 729 minutes from 10 matches.

The Leeds United summer signing made his debut for Germany in March 2022 and played two matches so far. The 26-year-old’s last appearance for Die Mannschaft was in June 2022 and never received a call up from manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Stach believes his decision to move to the Premier League and his form for Leeds United has improved his chances of returning to the national team.

“Yes, I really hope so, because the Premier League is a fantastic league. You have very, very good opponents. If you prove yourself here and have a good season, that also generates attention,” he said.

The Leeds United player doesn’t hide his ambition for next summer when explaining his desire to represent Germany at the 2026 World Cup. He’s aware the only way to achieve this is by regularly impressing for the English club.

“I’ve mentioned before that returning to the national team is a big goal of mine, as is the 2026 World Cup. Ultimately, you simply have to perform very, very well and consistently on an individual level,” Stach explained.
