Throughout the first half of the season, we have seen Manchester City being linked with Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini.
The young defender, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, has all the qualities and potential to be a star in the future, comfortable both with the ball in his feet and good at what he needs to do without it.
It’s therefore no surprise to see Pep Guardiola at Manchester City to be interested in the 18-year-old, but he’s also not the only one to have taken notice.
As tends to be the case with most talented Italian youngsters, Juventus are hovering, with Calciomercato.it pointing out that Scalvini is ‘followed closely’ by the men in charge of such matters in Turin.
However, they do ‘have to face competition’ from other big European sides, which is when both Manchester City and Atlético Madrid are mentioned, as well as Inter.
As things stand, Scalvini is valued at ‘around €30m’, but it’s also made clear that a move in January is excluded, meaning that ‘the game is open for next summer’.
Whether Manchester City decide to partake, however, remains to be seen.
