Galatasaray have joined West Ham United in the race to sign Marseille’s Elye Wahi in the winter market, according to L’Equipe.
Last week, we covered claims from France that the Hammers have firm interest in the 22-year-old.
Earlier on Tuesday, L’Equipe stated West Ham have contacted the Ligue 1 side to advance for a loan deal with an ‘almost’ purchase obligation of €25m.
A fresh report from the same outlet points out West Ham’s interest and then provides the latest on the Turkish champions.
Galatasaray are trying to snatch the striker from the Premier League side’s clutches via a loan deal with an option to buy. There’s no mention of the fee they would like to offer for the buying option.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side don’t want to rush, largely because it’s not their priority to let Wahi leave in this window. If there’s a transfer, the report states the frontman wants a move to the Premier League.
West Ham would likely offer better terms than the Istanbul club plan to propose. Taking this and the player’s willingness to move to England into account, it gives Graham Potter’s side a big advantage over Galatasaray.
