Leeds United favourite Gaetano Berardi is backing Jack Harrison to be a hit at Fiorentina this season.

Firenze Viola cover comments from the Italian today. He was speaking to Radio Firenze Viola about Harrison, who is set to join Fiorentina on loan from Leeds.

Harrison is believed to be on the verge of completing a move to the Italian side. They’re busy strengthening their squad this month as they look to avoid relegation.

Several reports yesterday stated that the move from Elland Road was in the final stages. That was then followed by a claim he was doing his medical and then finalising a loan deal with an option to buy included.

There were even comments from former Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani. He was more than delighted to be seeing Harrison heading to Italy this month.

That, it seems, is a sentiment shared by Berardi. He played alongside Harrison at Leeds during his own time there. In fact, they were frequent teammates, playing 82 times together and having key roles in the promotion under Marcelo Bielsa.

Like Radrizzani, it appears he’s a fan of the winger. And he believes a move to Italy could be just what he needs as well.

Leeds United player needs to be more selfish

“I have wonderful memories of Jack,” he said.

“I’d be delighted to see him in Italy. He could provide significant support. Besides being a skilled dribbler, he’s also an exemplary professional. Athletically, he’s a ready player. Considering the current Premier League, he could make a difference.”

The one question is whether Harrison can improve on a somewhat disappointing Leeds United record. That currently stands at 34 goals in 219 games. Berardi, though, believes he knows why.

“My explanation is that he’s a very generous player who works hard defensively. By changing the system, he could also find his feet in attack,” he added.
