Fulham and West Ham United are keeping up with their chase for São Paulo midfielder Pablo Maia, according to reports.
As explained by journalist Jorge Nicola, despite the resistance from the Brazilian club to negotiate the player, the battle for his summer transfer continues.
It’s now claimed that Fulham and West Ham continue to ‘try and advance’ in the negotiations, and both clubs have now invited his agent Junior Pedroso for meetings in England.
Nicola says that since the representative was already supposed to be in Europe this week to sort some issues regarding Lucas Moura, he’ll use that trip to ‘sit at the table’ with the Craven Cottage side and the Hammers.
It’s claimed that Fulham’s interest is older, since they already tried the signing in January, and West Ham’s chase is ‘more recent’ and also ‘very exciting’.
According to the report, when the Craven Cottage side tried to sign Maia in the winter, they offered €5m plus €2m in bonuses.
The problem is that the player is on a rise this season, and São Paulo would now only accept negotiating him for over €20m.
