Feyenoord star In-Beom Hwang has admitted he was delighted when Fulham made a move for him late in the summer.
Soccer News cover comments from the midfielder today in which he admits he was ‘quite proud’ of Fulham’s interest.
Marco Silva’s side had a quite window right up until deadline day, when they started making late moves to try and bolster their squad.
In-Beom Hwang was one of those they targeted, making a last-minute bid for the 28-year-old. That was swiftly rejected by the Dutch side.
Feyenoord made it clear they had no intention of selling the midfielder, certainly not at that point in the window. This was despite Fulham making a ‘substantial bid’ for the player who cost them €7m a year ago.
They instead preferred to keep hold of him for the time being, leaving Fulham disappointed. Fulham instead spent €40m on winger Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk on deadline day.
“Premier League is special for guys from South Korea”

In-Beom Hwang was more than aware of the rumours about him at the end of the window and admits it was a big boost to see himself being linked with a potential move to the Premier League.
“I was in my rehabilitation when I heard about it,” he said.
“You have to understand that the Premier League is special for guys from South Korea. When I was young, I watched Ji-Sung Park at Manchester United.
“Everyone wanted to play in the Premier League because it was essentially the only foreign league we knew well. So, when clubs from that league enquired about you, yes, that made me proud.
“I wasn’t disappointed that a transfer to England didn’t go through. My main focus at Feyenoord now is staying fit, becoming champions, and performing well in Europe. I’m going to do everything I can to achieve that. You never know what the future holds.”
