Fulham are still one of the ‘serious candidates’ for KRC Genk star Mike Trésor but are yet to submit a bid that would satisfy the Belgian club.
That’s according to Voetbal Nieuws, who say a departure for the player ‘seemed inevitable and only a matter of time’ at one point but that is now less certain.
They explain that Fulham officially reported to Genk at the end of July for Trésor and were told that it would take €25m to secure his signature.
That was something we covered at the time, with a report detailing their efforts and hinting a deal was likely as Trésor was expected to depart.
VN follow that up and say while that was the case, Fulham have not yet submitted a concrete offer to the Limburg club and the chances of him departing are getting smaller every day.
They say that from the extensive list of interested parties in recent weeks and months, Fulham are one of only ‘two serious candidates’ remaining in the race.
There has also been talk of Burnley and Nottingham Forest being keen, but they’ve not taken any official steps on that front, so Fulham are, at least on the face of it, out in front.
Genk are ‘waiting for an offer’ of €25m and ready to cooperate with the player, who wants to leave and ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premier League.
They’ve already spent €10m on Alieu Fadera and Christopher Bonsu Baah as replacements so would be more than happy to see him depart.
Whether that’s to Fulham remains to be seen, though, with them yet to put the money on the table. That could change after they pocketed €52.6m from selling Aleksandr Mitrovic to Al-Hilal, but it is yet to happen.
