Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has found himself on Atlético Madrid’s as they look to strengthen their midfield this summer.
That’s according to Africa Foot, who name the 29-year-old Fulham midfielder as a potential option for Diego Simeone’s side.
They report that Atlético want to make numerous moves in the transfer window this summer and strengthen their squad after a third placed finish last season.
They particularly want to strengthen their midfield and that’s led them to look at Fulham’s Iwobi. He had a fantastic season last year, with nine goals and six assists in 38 games in the Premier League and that’s put him on Atlético Madrid’s radar.
In fact, according to the website, he’s been made a priority signing by the Spanish club’s management. They’ve even submitted a €25m offer to buy out the remaining three years of his deal at Fulham.
They’re also willing to offer the player a four-year contract worth €7m a year. Iwobi and his representatives are said to be ‘particularly interested’ in the proposal they’ve been sent.
Whether that actually leads to anything, remains to be seen. We’d certainly take it with a pinch of salt, as it’s hard to see Simeone wanting Iwobi or him being a player who would fit in at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The 29-year-old has impressed under Marco Silva, though, particularly last season, and perhaps that has led to some transfer ideas.
