‘Fulham ruled out’ – January target no longer in Marco Silva’s plans, leaving door wide open for competition

As the Portuguese media continues to write about Sporting’s chase for Heerenveen fullback Milan van Ewijk, Fulham get another mention in this rumour.

But this time, instead of saying the Craven Cottage side will compete with the Lions for the signing, as previously reported, it’s actually said the opposite.

Newspaper Record features an entire article about van Ewjk’s potential departure from Heerenveen, and at the end of the story, says Fulham are ‘ruled out’ from this race.

It’s claimed that despite recent links between Whites and the player, the fullback is actually not targeted by Marco Silva’s side.

That will leave the path open for Sporting, who are nearly selling Pedro Porro to Tottenham Hotspur, to have van Ewijk as a replacement for the Spaniard.

Now for Fulham to be ruled out of this race at this stage, it even sounds like they gave up on the player once they knew they’d be bringing another right-back to the club.

So with reports from the English media saying they have agreed a deal for the arrival of Cedric Soares from Arsenal, it’s natural that they forget about the other targets for the position.
