Raúl Jiménez missed Fulham’s 3-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth on Friday.
Last weekend, the Mexico international picked up an injury in Fulham’s 3-1 league defeat to Aston Villa. As Sport Witness reported, there were concerns over his involvement for October’s international break.
Jiménez was aiming to regain full fitness for the friendlies against Colombia and Ecuador this month. That’s according to AS, who indicate Fulham were reluctant for him to be part of the national team.
They have also relayed an update from Fox Sports about the 34-year-old’s situation.
According to Fox, the striker is under ‘extensive clinical evaluations’ due to the hip injury he suffered last month. He wasn’t present for yesterday’s clash, but the results of the tests carried out were positive enough for him to represent Mexico in October.
Marco Silva’s side want the player to stay at the club during the international break. Fox report it’s ‘most prudent for him to remain under observation’ of Fulham so that he’s available to face Arsenal on October 18th.
Fox state: ‘They [Fulham] know Raúl’s position in the national team isn’t compromised by his absence. It would be a big surprise, based on what they tell us, if the situation were different.’
Fulham’s wish seems to have been fulfilled as Mexico manager Javier Aguirre left Jiménez out of the squad for October’s matches.
