Fulham ‘did not come close’ to convincing Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos to join them this summer, a fact that has led to some frustration at the Spanish club.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say Sevilla are ‘desperately’ looking to secure a big sale before tomorrow’s deadline so they can continue bringing players into the club.
Ocampos has been linked with a move to Fulham throughout this week, with various reports stating Marco Silva’s side had bid and been in touch with the Argentine.
It had been indicated in Spain that they had reached an agreement with both the club and player at various stages but those appeared to be wide of the mark.
Instead, reports yesterday indicated that Fulham needed to up their bid to the player if they were to convince him to make the switch to Craven Cottage.
Estadio say the same, stating that Fulham ‘did not come close’ to offering Ocampos a contract that would convince him to leave Sevilla this summer.
That’s proven to be slightly frustrating for Sevilla are they are ‘almost desperately looking’ for a way to get rid of players to make funds available and space in the wage cap to bring in more new signings.
They’d prefer to keep Ocampos but there is an acceptance he’d help significantly on both fronts, but it seems Fulham didn’t put the right amounts in front of the player and so a deal seems unlikely at this point.
