Fulham continue working on signing São Paulo midfielder Pablo Maia, and the Brazilian media today shares some interesting updates on this pursuit.
According to Lance!, the Whites this week made a new attempt for the transfer, following the €7.5m bid which had been turned down by the Tricolor.
The numbers of this new offer from Fulham have not been revealed yet. However, it’s claimed the bid has ‘moved’ São Paulo and the ‘tendency’ is for an agreement.
It’s said the Brazilian club ‘started a new negotiation’, but this time, they’re not just pushing for a bigger amount. They’re actually interested in keeping him for a few more months, at the start of next year, just so he could help them in the first rounds of the Copa Libertadores next season.
That means he’d only arrive at the Craven Cottage in the European summer window.
Lance! doesn’t make it clear if Fulham are on board with that. Still, it does sound like both clubs are working towards an agreement.
The outlet points out the Whites had already been interested in other São Paulo players such as Luizão, Rodrigo Nestor and Igor Gomes.
