Fulham have been trying to sign PSV Eindhoven’s Ricardo Pepi for much of the winter market.
The Dutch press initially reported the Eredivisie side rejected Fulham’s initial bid of around €30-35m. Their technical director has already confirmed rejecting the English club’s offer.
On January 12th, PSV general manager Marcel Brands revealed that Marco Silva’s offered €25m for the American. He suffered an injury in his side’s win over Excelsior Rotterdam. The striker is now on the sidelines, but that hasn’t put off the Premier League side.
Five days ago, Soccer News reported Fulham aren’t willing to give up on Pepi and would return with a new offer.
Eindhoven Dagbladet, a newspaper local to the Dutch club, report Silva’s side have made an improved proposal.
According to them, Fulham are ‘eager to buy’ the attacker and therefore, returned with a fresh bid of €32m. PSV have rejected their latest offer as it’s still far from their demand.
ED state the London club are €8m short of the Eindhoven side’s price. Despite facing another rejection, Fulham continued negotiations with PSV on Sunday evening. This may indicates the parties could find a compromise on the final price.
Journalist Rik Elfrink covered this report for the newspaper. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a short update on Fulham’s pursuit of Pepi.
Elfrink claims there hasn’t been a significant change in Pepi’s case since the latest offer. ‘He’s for sale’ and his club need a convincing offer of €40m. The journalist insists Fulham will have to return with another improved offer.
PSV want to sell Pepi and are trying to squeeze as much as possible from the English club. It feels like they are using local medica as a tool to put pressure on Fulham.
Pepi has managed 11 goals and two assists from 22 matches this season.
